From lots to gross P/L
Direction × (Exit − Entry)
× Lots × Units per lot
Direction is +1 for Buy and −1 for Sell. The result is in the quote currency. Multiply it by the exit conversion rate to express gross P/L in your account currency.

Scenario prices, not trading recommendations. Conversion is recalculated at each exit for base-currency accounts.
Educational calculations, not investment advice. Results use your entered prices, costs and conversion rates. Margin is an estimate, not a loss limit or a guarantee that a trade can be opened. Live execution, swaps and portfolio exposure are not modeled.
Model assumptions ↗Start with the price movement in the pair’s quote currency, convert it at the scenario exit, then subtract the costs you entered.
Direction × (Exit − Entry)
× Lots × Units per lot
Direction is +1 for Buy and −1 for Sell. The result is in the quote currency. Multiply it by the exit conversion rate to express gross P/L in your account currency.
Gross P/L − (Commission per lot
× Lots) − Fixed fees
Commission covers opening and closing together. Fixed position fees apply once. Costs increase a loss as well as reduce a profit. Spread already reflected in execution prices is not added again.
When your account matches the quote currency, no conversion is needed. When it matches the base currency, the entry factor is 1 ÷ Entry and the exit factor is 1 ÷ Exit. For a third currency, enter both rates or explicitly assume an unchanged manual rate.
For a constant exit factor k, model breakeven is Entry + Direction × Costs ÷ (Units × k). For a base-currency account it is Entry ÷ (1 − Direction × Costs ÷ Units). The first permitted tick at or beyond that price must also cover costs. A positive price may not exist.
A pip measures price distance. Its monetary value depends on volume and the reference conversion rate.
Pip value at entry = Lots × Units per lot × Pip size × Entry conversion rate. For these pairs, a pip is 0.01 when the quote currency is JPY and 0.0001 otherwise. The smaller quoted tick is one tenth of a pip.
The entry value is a reference estimate. If the exit conversion rate differs, multiplying the whole move by the entry pip value will not reproduce the exact P/L.

| 0.10 | 10,000 |

Check your broker’s contract size and volume grid. This calculator rejects a non-permitted lot size rather than changing your volume.
Margin is an estimate of collateral for the entered volume. It is not the amount you can lose.
Estimated margin = Units ÷ Leverage × Entry price × Entry conversion rate. At 1:100, 20,000 EUR at EUR/USD 1.10000 requires an estimated $220 for a USD account.
If you know the required margin for one lot in your account currency, enter it directly. Margin = Lots × Entered margin per lot. No additional leverage division or currency conversion is applied.
Changing leverage does not change P/L or pip value for the same volume and prices. Actual requirements can depend on broker rules, tiers, existing positions and available funds, which this tool does not assess.

Buy 0.20 lots with 100,000 units per lot, enter at 1.10000 and exit at 1.10500. A 50-pip move produces $100 gross in a USD account. At $7 commission per lot, costs are $1.40 and net profit is $98.60. Entry pip value is $2; estimated margin at 1:100 is $220.
Model and executable breakeven are both 1.10007. These values use zero fixed fees.
Buy 0.20 lots at 150.000 and exit at 151.000. Gross profit is 20,000 JPY, or about $132.45 using 1 ÷ 151 at exit. Entry pip value is about $1.33 using 1 ÷ 150. Estimated margin at 1:100 is $200.
For EUR/GBP in a USD account, 0.20 lots from 0.86000 to 0.86500 produces 100 GBP. At an exit factor of 1.30 USD per GBP that is $130 gross; an entry factor of 1.25 gives $2.50 entry pip value and $215 margin at 1:100.
The model covers 28 currency pairs with editable generic contracts. It does not include swaps, tiered margin, margin call, liquidation, hedging or portfolio exposure.
Use planned fill prices: Ask entry and Bid exit for Buy, Bid entry and Ask exit for Sell. Include any spread or slippage assumption in those prices. Additional spread is not charged automatically.
Third-currency rates are manual inputs. Linking them assumes an unchanged rate; a base-currency account instead always converts at the corresponding entry or exit price. Only entered round-trip commission and fixed fees are deducted.
Educational calculations, not investment advice. Results use your entered prices, costs and conversion rates. Margin is an estimate, not a loss limit or a guarantee that a trade can be opened. Live execution, swaps and portfolio exposure are not modeled.
It estimates gross and net P/L, pip value at entry, margin and breakeven for one entered forex trade. You choose the volume and assumptions.
Multiply the entry-to-exit price change by base-currency units and +1 for Buy or −1 for Sell. Convert the quote-currency result at the scenario exit rate and subtract entered costs.
Gross P/L measures the price outcome after currency conversion. Net P/L deducts your full round-trip commission per lot multiplied by lots, plus fixed fees once for the position.
Multiply pip size by the position in base-currency units and the entry conversion factor. Pip size is 0.01 for JPY quote pairs and 0.0001 for other supported pairs.
The pair produces P/L in its quote currency. Your account may require conversion. Pip value and leverage margin use entry conversion; P/L uses exit conversion.
For the same volume and execution prices, leverage changes the estimated margin, not the price P/L or pip value.
No. Margin is collateral, not a loss limit. Losses and actual collateral requirements can differ from this scenario. Available funds and liquidation are not modeled.
Spread is reflected in the execution prices you enter. The calculator deducts entered round-trip commission and fixed fees. It does not add spread again or calculate swap automatically.
For a third account currency, turn off Use same conversion rate at exit and enter both rates. For a base-currency account, 1 divided by the corresponding entry or exit price is used automatically.
Trading costs must be recovered. The model also accounts for conversion that depends on the exit price. The theoretical breakeven can differ from the first permitted price tick that covers costs.
Use the Position Size Calculator to size volume from capital, a risk budget and stop loss. This forex calculator uses the volume you enter.
No. Prices and rates are entered manually and the contract profiles are generic and editable. Check your broker’s specifications and requirements.
