Start in the quote currency
Convert lots to base-currency units, then multiply by the pair’s pip size.
For 0.20 standard lots of EUR/USD: 20,000 × 0.0001 = 2 USD per pip.

Quote and account currency match. No conversion required.
Movement values hold the conversion rate fixed. A trade’s actual account-currency P/L may differ.
Reference estimates for linear forex pairs. Conversion is fixed at your entered rate or reference price. Costs, changing conversion rates and broker order restrictions are not included.
Model assumptions ↗A pip is a price distance. Its money value comes from your trade size and the conversion into your account currency.
Convert lots to base-currency units, then multiply by the pair’s pip size.
For 0.20 standard lots of EUR/USD: 20,000 × 0.0001 = 2 USD per pip.
Multiply the quote-currency amount by account currency per one quote-currency unit.
For a chosen movement, multiply the converted pip value by the number of pips. The conversion stays fixed in this reference calculation.
Lots × units per lot = base-currency units. When the quote currency is your account currency, conversion is 1. For a base-currency account, conversion is 1 ÷ reference pair price. Other account currencies use your manually entered rate.
At 0.20 lots with 100,000 EUR units per lot, your trade represents 20,000 EUR. A pip is 0.0001 USD per EUR, so one pip is worth $2 in a USD account.
A 50-pip movement has a reference value of $100. A 10-pip movement has a value of $20. Trading costs are excluded.

The pip size belongs to the pair. The cash value belongs to the size of your position.
| Pair | One pip | One pipette |
|---|---|---|
| EUR/USD | 0.0001 | 0.00001 |
| GBP/USD | 0.0001 | 0.00001 |
| USD/JPY | 0.01 | 0.001 |
A pipette is one tenth of a pip. Extra digits in a quote do not turn one pip into the last displayed digit.
With a 100,000-unit forex contract, 1.00 lot is 100,000 base-currency units, 0.10 lot is 10,000 and 0.01 lot is 1,000. For EUR/USD in a USD account, their one-pip values are $10, $1 and $0.10.
The Lots and Units inputs describe the same exposure. Changing contract size changes units for an entered lot amount; it does not change pip value for an unchanged number of units.
The pair’s quote currency is where the calculation starts. Your account determines whether that amount needs conversion.
For EUR/USD in a USD account, 20,000 EUR × 0.0001 gives $2 per pip. No exchange rate is needed.
For USD/JPY in a USD account, 20,000 USD × 0.01 gives 200 JPY per pip. At a reference price of 150.000, divide by 150 for about $1.33 per pip.
For EUR/GBP in a USD account, 20,000 EUR × 0.0001 gives 2 GBP per pip. An entered rate of 1.25 USD per GBP gives $2.50 per pip.
All pip values and movement amounts use the same reference conversion throughout. For a base-currency account, this means the reciprocal of your reference price stays fixed. Actual conversion at a different exit price can change account-currency P/L.
A positive distance produces a nonnegative reference amount. Trade direction, entry and exit execution, spread, commission, swap, slippage and taxes are not modeled. Use the Forex Calculator for a trade outcome with entered costs.
The model covers 28 linear forex pairs. Contract size is editable. The calculator does not enforce broker lot minimums, volume steps, maximums or available margin, and does not model gold, indices or crypto.
No live prices or currency rates are fetched. Calculations run in your browser. A shared link explicitly includes your inputs; there is no automatic saving.
It calculates the money value of one forex pip for your trade size and account currency. This tool also values a chosen pip distance at a fixed reference conversion.
Multiply base-currency units by the pair’s pip size, then convert from quote currency to account currency when needed. Lots become units using the entered contract size.
For a USD account and a 100,000-unit contract, one pip is $10 at 1.00 lot, $1 at 0.10 lot and $0.10 at 0.01 lot. Other trade sizes and account currencies give different values.
For the supported JPY-quoted forex pairs, one conventional pip is 0.01 of quote price. A pipette is 0.001. Other supported pairs use 0.0001 and 0.00001 respectively.
One pipette is one tenth of a pip. Five-decimal forex quotes and three-decimal JPY quotes commonly show this smaller increment.
When your account matches the pair’s base currency, the quote-currency pip amount is divided by the reference pair price. That conversion is held fixed while you explore movements.
Enter account-currency units for one quote-currency unit. For EUR/GBP in a USD account, enter USD per GBP. Entering the inverse rate changes the result.
For the same number of base-currency units and the same conversion, leverage does not change pip value. It affects collateral requirements, which this tool does not calculate.
It is a reference amount using a fixed conversion. Direction, actual execution, changing conversion rates and trading costs can change trade P/L. Use the Forex Calculator for an entered trade outcome.
Yes. Select Units and enter the amount of the pair’s base currency. Contract size is used to show the equivalent lot amount; an unchanged unit amount has the same pip value.
This version supports the listed forex pairs. Pip conventions and contract terms for other instruments vary by broker, so their values are outside this model.
